Wine is fruit juice.  Sweet wines are going to be sweet b/c of fructose.   Dry ones, the fructose is gone in the fermenting process.

Yes I drink red wine an strangely enough have even been able to drink the odd beer now too an enjoy it. BUT I'm not a big drinker ( does that sound like denial) mostly a two pot screamer, a few years of  headaches for no reason stopped any over drinking. It probably doesn't help with weight loss but I do enjoy a glass when I have it an as I"m not doing the Diet thing it doesn't bother me.

Well its 3 weeks now till we leave for a 6 week holiday, my sugar free life is still going great and I'm going to try my best to keep it going while away. I have discovered that dextrose treats make me put on weight as does red wine, my breakthrough of not being hungry at all, a few weeks ago went out the window again, don't really know why, but it hasn't deterred me, after reading a bit more on here an sweet poison, being sugar free is really a personal way of life that works differently for everyone. And as I'm not ready to give up carbs again yet I am happy with my current weight (yes I'm still 5kg over) but the fact is i haven't put back on the 1.5 kg i did lose, and it isn't skyrocketing out of control, which it would be doing with sugar. So not dieting is working just great.
    Cheers

Hello,  back from a fab holiday and no didnt manage to stay totally sugar free but didnt do a whole heap of damage either which is great I found it quite easy to avoid most of the processed sugar foods and I think that helped a lot, an stuck to full fat everything but it did creep in towards the end cocktails didnt help. I have now been a week sugar free again an went through a slightly different withdrawal this time no headaches thank goodness but just a complete lack of energy, but have come out of that now an the scales have moved down a little bit already so very happy.
    cheers Deb

hello just reporting my lack of progress, weight is still the same yes I'm still sugar free my only indulgence over xmas was abit more fruit an 3 of my mums homemade fruit mince pies, which didnt seem to trigger any bad eating, my hunger control is still all over the place some days really good others I'm still snacking in between. But the bottom line is i dont really care how long it takes for my body to get it, I am still never dieting again and the s/f life makes me feel great.

    Hello Debra
This is interesting, you haven't lost any weight and not put any on..........I would say this is progress.......that BMI thing isn't for real human beings, it's just some set of measurements dreamed up by someone. If I went by it, I would be obese........and I'm far from that. I do weights, particularly upper body work.......it includes an exercise for my trunk............result..........my waist is "bigger" than the BMI says it should be. I have put muscle on around the waist, but this helps my back stay in good shape.
I feel that you are at the ideal weight for your body and that is why you don't lose or gain weight.

But I bet you feel a lot lot better than you did last year. Sugar free will make you a lot healthier and your sense of well being will go up.

I have been doing this for two years now and can still overeat on odd days. It happens.........we are human and have been overeating for far longer than we've been sugar free. It takes different times for different people..........that's what makes if fun

There is no "correct" weight, size or shape.
Good luck to you for the future
    cheers
    Freda

    Hi Freda
thanks for that, I do feel better sugar free, cant imagine doing the alternative now. I slowly getting into the right head space about weight, and have actually stopped weighing myself in the last couple of weeks (another addiction).
    cheers Deb

The sugar free lifestyle continues easter was no big deal, did make some cupcakes. Weight wise still pretty much in the same place neither up nor down, but I have kicked the weighing everyday habit.

Well time is moving on its now been 12 months of  sugar free, guess my body has been a slow learner, i could put it  down to years of low fat ,weight watchers, what ever..I still struggle a bit with over eating when I dont need to but on the whole sugar free life is great, my weight has gone done slightly but I only get on the scales once in a while now, have accepted my current size which is still a 14 an will live with it. My other half has been getting more on board with it an has dropped a few kilos already, he has finally seen the benefits of not eating sugar i.e. eating better food at home, an has not even bought dark chocolate home for a while now. He did buy himself some organic honey but its sitting in the pantry an he used the rice malt syrup last time.. progress.

Hi Debra. Sounds like you have been going great. 12 months is an amazing achievement. I have been sugar free for a couple of months now. I have lost around 4 kilos but still struggle with overeating at times when I feel stressed or down. I also sometimes feel like I am missing out when I see other people enjoying sugar treats. But over all I feel fantastic without sugar. My moods are so much more stable and I am a happier wife and mother. Did you mention on an earlier post that you had health concerns before becoming sugar free? If you did, how are these going now? I am just curious. I have read all of David's books but still  sometimes worry about the health impact of full fat products.
