    Hi

I have been having Country Life Bakery bread which is less than 1% sugar with avacado

Lunch is a sanwich, two minute noodles without the flavouring or a pie... The Seargents are the lowest in sugar

Tea is vegies and meat .............BUT.............in between... oh my goodness, I have made the mouse and the chocolate cake in a cup twice each and i have them in the fridge and have a "fix" nearly every 10 mins all afternoon, and i am drinking pepsi max as well... I also eat rice crackers with  hommus all afternoon.... my sugar withdrawral did not kick in until about day 6 but now it is here in abundance i can tell you.  I am up to day 9 and its an absolute miricle with the amount of food i am eating but i have not put on any weight whatsoever, i have not lost any but feel calmer somehow..I am constantly starving but have not given in to the sugar addiction yet.

I do not have my book, so if there is anyone out there that can tell me if i am sabotaging my weight loss with all the dextrose in the cooking i would reeeeallly appreciate it !

    Good luck all

    Hi

There is a bit on pg 194 saying WARNING! You can still get fat eating dextrose, it say you can force yourself to eat more than you need. It then says you might find yourself with a supply of yummy dextrose-based foods, then you will eat a meal feeling full but manage to finish it, if that becomes a regular habit, you will put on weight. These recipes are for special occasions and for guests. You can have them without getting re addicted or suffering any other ill effects of fractose comsumption, but you can't stop listening to your appetite control.

That's what that says, hope that helps

    Hi Kristie,
I tried to post the other day but the site was doing weird things and wouldn't let me.
    Here goes...
Today I had for breakfast - porridge, pear and malt-free soy milk
lunch - a carrot, borlotti beans and rice and a mandarine
afternoon tea - some leftover lamb casserole and 2 rice cakes with almond spread, a punnet of strawbs (ravenous this afternoon)
dinner - fish & vegie soup, apple/pear/rhubarb crumble made with dextrose and some plain yoghurt.

This is pretty much what I've been eating most days.  I don't have wheat and am seriously limiting dairy as it gives me sinus.  But I'm finding that I just stop eating when I'm sated (this is very new for me - I am a constant grazer from way back)
I've lost a couple of kilos in the past 3 weeks.  I can feel my jeans getting loose and my skin clearing up (yay!)  Way more energy and feeling very chilled about life - a lovely feeling.
    Best of luck.
    Anthea

    Hi all,

Joining you all in these fructose free journey. Day 3 and feeling good. I have been busy in the kitchen baking with out sugar! So much fun. I have steered clear of baking for the last couple of decades due to the 'guilt factor' Such a sad thing as I grew up in my Mum's kitchen chatting and baking.

It is so nice to be back and in my element. I am baking feverishly, but not eating it. My theory being I didn't want to feel deprived. I have to walk through the supermarket leaving behind all the yummy cakes, biscuits and lollies. But now in my mind I'm okay with it. I can look at them as the poison they are and remember I have lovingly made homemade treats at home if I want something. I am eating well and if I want a treat I know I have a pantry full of them. But because they are there I am not gorging myself. 1 cupcake a day, or a lovely peanut biscuit. Yum! Last night we had a lovely healthy chicken stir fry and then for dessert I made a trifle with my sugar free cupcakes, sugar free jelly, sugar free jelly a mandarine and banana. We ate a small portion each and 8/10th of it is still in the fridge! Before sugar free days I have been known to have trifle for breakfast!! LOL.

I bought the book initially as another attempt at weight loss but now it is not my priority (although if I do it will be a bonus.) I just want to live a healthy life so I can enjoy my grandkids. I noticed this morning my scales had nudged a few 100gms of my weight but it is early days yet and I am just happy to see how it goes. I have noticed I am noticing that I feel fuller now. For years I have been constantly on the scrounge for food. I am trying to consciously acknowledge this feeling and let it sit with me remembering I don't have to eat (cos I am full) but that when I am hungry again I can eat what ever I want (except fructose!) Too easy! Hubby is happily trying this with me and is happy with my sugar free cooking. He is also enjoying eating well and not feelilng bad about every mouthful. I am just delighted to have a lifestyle that encourages healthy eating and enjoying what you eat. So refreshing!

Hope everyone else is enjoying the change too!

    Cheers Angela

    Hi Lyn,
I hadn't even thought about that as I don't have David's book yet...  But I just looked - it's Naturals by Melrose (0.4g total carbs per 10 g serve).  It's nothing but almonds, so unless you eat half a jar of it (which I definitely wouldn't come anywhere near!) I don't think there's any problem at all.  How do you work out the percentage sugars?
In any case it certainly hasn't triggered any cravings or relapse into sugar.
    :)

    Hi there all,

Please help me with a problem. I have been looking in my cupboards and besides the fact that I am long overdue for and need to do my usual holiday pantry clean out I REALLY have to clean out my cupboards now I realise  SO much is laden with hidden sugar.

I have many cans, bottles and packets in my pantry that will no longer be on my shopping list and will obviously now just sit there and go off. Much of it is new and never been opened.

My dilemma is...what to do with it. My Mum always taught me to waste not want not. I thought about giving it to my daughter (out of home and struggling as all young couples do to make ends meet) but I don't want to knowingly give her stuff that will be doing her no good (she hasn't read the book yet and is no doubt eating enough of the sugary stuff already!)

Then I thought maybe give it to a charity who accepts food. But then I feel maybe I am doing them just as much a disservice. They deserve to be healthy too, so why would I give them stuff that is going to make them sick. Even if they don't know it. Morally I feel it is wrong. So do I just bin it and hope I am not seen as totally thoughtless and wasteful.

I just can't think of another alternative. Any suggestions??

    Thanks, Angela
