I am now very fit and active, but still far too large (still about 30kg overweight). I had been eating very little, but unfortunately too much of what I was eating still had sugar in it. Even my 'no added sugar' yoghurt has 'natural apple extract' - sigh. I'm hoping that getting away from the sugar all together will make all the difference.

Nicole ... it should make the difference ... looking forward to your updates!

I am 66year old grandad to 3 beautiful young (5,4,2 ) boys. Put on insulin some months back I thought "what point sticking yourself every day but not making sacrifices?" I was made aware of Sweet Poison, bought it, read it, preach it to people who I think should listen (not many do ) and immediately lost 2kg and 2cm off the gut so I'm happy with that. I've promised myself to try to live long enough to see my grandsons grow up. Thanks to your book I feel the goal is possible. Best wishes to all on here.

Hi Adelle - glad you liked the book - are their sugar free recipe sites?  Well no, not really, not that I know of (if you find any please let me know) - but if you can handle yourself in the kitchen you can do your own construction.  Take any sugar based recipe, replace the sugar with dextrose and try it.  It probably wont work too well, but you'll find that with a bit of trial and error you can produce something that approximates the original - you usually have to decrease the dry ingredients and increase the wet ingredients.

    Hope that's some help?

    Cheers

re the juice - that means that a large glass (500ml?) contains 7g of sugar (and no fibre) - I wouldn't be drinking it!

re the bread - that sounds fine to me - if you wanted to go even lower you could try a sourdough, but I wouldn't bother if you like the bread you've got.

    Cheers

Have just added a topic on cholesterol, as that has become an issue for me.  Interesting reading all the comments in this section.  I guess we are just starting out really, all the bad breakfast cereal is now gone, so it's only weetbix, oat bix etc from now on.  And probably no dried fruit at all?  John (husband) and I are both overweight - John has the large abdomen (so do I to an extent) and is probably 15 kg over, I am about 7.  Am very impressed with "Sweet Poison" and heard Steve Austin interview David Wed night - so maybe the word will get out.  It is amazing what has sugar in it -  like the tomato sauce.  Anyway, we have to succeed, and David's tip about the sugar diary sounds good.  I certainly had to keep track of points with Weightwatchers!

Is the herb Stevia a good alternative to sugar? I would never use artificial sweeteners, but wondered about Stevia and its reaction in the body? Congratulations on a great book. We are 3 weeks sugar free and doing our best to stay this way. I too am having trouble losing weight due to menopause, but am committed to a healthier life. We have recommended your book to many others.

Not evil from a fructose persepctive but over to you on whether you trust it from other perspectives.
