The Sanitarium "No sugar or salt added" PNB is a bit bland, mainly due to the lack of salt. Sprinkling a little on it helps. I found a product today which may interest members as an alternative. And it's actually a bit lower in sugar.
The manufacturer/brand is "Macro wholefoods market" and it's called NATURAL. It's a  brazil-almond-cashew nut spread. Tastes like a cross between PNB and tahine, and quite delicious. The viscosity is lower than PNB but still quite spreadable.

I wondered what that one tasted like.  I'll have to use up my 2 jars of natural Sanitarium PB (one I bought and one a friend just bought on her PT's recommendation, but she hated it!) and a jar of the Sanitarium no salt no sugar that I also bought but haven't tried yet.  Does anyone know the difference between the natural and the no salt no sugar Sanitarium ones?  I was hoping the non-natural one doesn't have the layer of oil as that is inconvenient to mix.

    Natalie,

I don't get any oil separating out from my Sanitarium no-sugar-less-salt PNB, but that may be because  I eat the crunchy variety. The significant difference is that the NSLS variety has 5.9% sugar compared to about 9.5% for the standard variety. David explains this in SPQP I  think.

    Natalie,

If the 2 jars of natural PNB are the 10% sugar variety, don't use them up - throw them out, or give them to a skinny friend :-)  The $10 or so you waste will be money well spent.

I bought some of that the other day at the food and wine show, 5 bucks for 2. It's really very nice but I can't have it in my house because it is very nice and I don't need 'snacky' type foods. I actually like the peanut butter. My poison was always sweet tasting foods so find it salty enough.

You could always make your own. Grind some peanuts and cashews. Makes a nice spread for kids on crackers.

The Sanitarium Natural Peanut Butter is 100% roasted peanuts.  And only has 5g of sugars in it.

I don't know why there is a Sanitarium natural and also a Sanitarium no salt no sugar.  That's why I thought the nsns one might be mixed in and not separated.  Perhaps I'm supposed to keep this natural one in the fridge?  May not have preservatives.

I'm not overweight (give it to my skinny friend :) ).  I'm doing this so I don't feel hungry all the time.  And it's working.

The difference between Sanitarium Natural and Sanitarium NSNS is that NSNS contains 4% vegetable oil, whereas Natural is just 100% crushed peanuts. I buy natural - you can always add the extras yourself if need be. It's delicious on celery!
