    Hi All

Cleaning cupboards and was about to throw out an old staminade (Powder) and reading the label it is made with Dextrose and 950.  Total Carb 5g/100 which is Dextrose 5/100.  Ingredients state dextrose and sweetner 950.

From my understanding this is all ok and would be great during sport on those hot days.  If anyone has more info which makes it not OK please let us know.  Otherwise it is a great find for those sporty's and kids.  Not sure about those made up bottles.  This is the powder you buy in the supermarket and make up which more economical and I also make it a bit weaker.

Hope you all have a merry christmas and new year

PS I just looked up the staminade site and the are promoting a new better formula which uses sucrose instead of so much dextrose and sweetner.  My balloon has burst.  But at least I can use the old bottle.  I might check the supermarket to see if the have old stock on shelf.

Yes, it is disappointing.  I emailed them back in October about it, and this is the reply I received

    Good Morning Suzanne,

Thank you for contacting Steric Trading regarding Staminade. We do
appreciate your feedback on the Staminade. Unfortunately, we won't be
going back to dextrose as we have had a number of complaints with the
Staminade not dissolving due to the dextrose. The magnesium is more
bioavailable to the body, which the quantity has not changed. Your
feedback has been passed onto management.

    Thanks Suzanne

What a shame.  David will have to send them a copy of the book.  They could have had a lot of business just due to using dextrose.

    Back to water.

Make some up yourself, c'mon how hard can it be? It'll have to have artificial flavour (and some lurid colouring?) but otherwise it's just dextrose and water to taste.   We have home-made drinking choc... dextrose and cocoa stirred into milk. Doesn't dissolve fast, but with a bit of stirring it's fine.
