Any fructose in metamucil?

I have been taking one heaped teasoonful of orange flavoured metamucil (souble fibre) for several years.  It tastes really sweet and I know it does contain aspartame which I do try to avoid, and malto dextrin but wondered if it also contains any fructose.  It says it is 'sugar free' but does have 'natural orange flavouring'.

    Does anybody out there know.

    Hello Liz
I have Psylim husks stirred into a glass of full cream milk.
No sugar, no aspartame, no anything except the lactose in the milk.

The base of Metamusil is Psylim.

    cheers
    Freda

    Hi
I actually take Metamucil Fibre capsules. It is 100%natural psyllium husk powder . . . no sweetners, no nothing!

I've lost my original post, but it related to avoidance of constipation after a hernia operation. This is from the horse's mouth . .  Proctor & Gamble:

    (a) On the other hand, Metamucil Granular Texture contains sugar. Metamucil Granular Texture Original Flavor has 3.6g/dose of sugar and the Granular Texture Orange Flavor has 7.1g/dose of sugar.
When I queried the figures I got:

    (b) Thank you for contacting us once again at Procter&  Gamble regarding Metamucil.
We apologise for the confusion. Metamucil Granular Texture Original Flavor and Metamucil Granular Texture Orange Flavor are taken at different dosages.
One dose of Original Flavor is 7g. On the other hand, one dose of Orange Flavor is 11g and not 6g.
Thank you once again for your email. Your interest in our products will be shared to the rest of the team.
For future concerns, you may also contact us through our toll free number 1800-028-280. Your reference number for this email is 10419142.

Translating into English, this means that granular Metamucil is 62% sugar (31% fructose) and the  Orange Flavoured version is 65% sugar (32.5% fructose).

"Go with the flow" - get down to your local health food store and buy some plain, unadulterated psyllium husks . .  no sugar.

Oh, and avoid the "soluble" versions; they contain aspartame and give everyone I know who has used it diarrhea.

To add to my previous post, what preceded the first P&G quote was:

We have several products that do not contain sugar. Metamucil Fibrecaps do not have any sugar in them. Metamucil Smooth Texture Orange, Lemon Lime and Wild Berry contains no sugar as well. It contains sweetener called Aspartame whish is Nutrasweet.

    On the other hand . . . . .

So, as someone else said, it's best to avoid the Fibrecaps because of the aspartame.

You could talk to the horse: pg_aai@mailnj.custhelp.com  But you will need to convince them of the neutral nature of your enquiry. You might suggest that your doctor has warned you off too much aspartame, and how much does it contain?
