Maltodextrin - yes or no?

I am confused about maltodextrin. I bought Coopers "brewing sugar" before reading that it's a no no. Ingredients are dextrose and maltodextrin, which I thought were both ok.

    Can anyone clarify?

    Cheers.

Be confused no more, Rebecca, you got the right one!
If you look on this site, under Sugar Guides, there is a handy guide, which you can print out & keep in your wallet/purse, and yes maltodextrin is on there as ok.
I buy the Brigalow brand of dextrose powder, in Big W, in their home brew section. It's quite cheap. I think about $2 odd for a 1 kilo bag.
If you can't find it, just ask at the returns counter, and they will show you, if they don't have it in stock, ask when, as I wrote them an e-mail and they said they had no plans to stop stocking it in Big W stores.

    Good luck with your baking.....

Joanne, here's a link to an explanation, of sorts, I just Googled it for you.

There were more sites, but I liked this one, as it shows us to always look at labels on everything, even our glucose (dextrose) powder!!  I know some people have bought one that contains sucrose!!
Be careful about coconut, (shredded/desiccated) too, some of this contains sugar, too, not sure if it's the sugar from the coconut palm, which is ok, but never found anywhere to check that fact out.

So, hope this helps, if not Google it yourself and see what comes up, I just asked what was the difference between the two.
