Hi, can anyone tell me is Rice malt syrup and Rice syrup the same thing? I know that the Rice malt syrup is darker in colour, but are they interchangeable in recipes?  Thanks, any information would be helpful.

Hi, Aleina, I could swear I just answered this question earlier today. As far as I'm concerned, they are the same thing. I buy the Pure Harvest brand, here is a link to their site:-

    http://www.pureharvest.com.au/product/organic-rice-syrup

They call it Rice Syrup, but the label shows Rice Malt Syrup........go figure!!

I love it, use it instead of honey, Agave syrup, golden syrup, treacle, molasses and Maple syrup.....all of these contain high amounts of fructose, whereas Rice Malt Syrup contains none.

It has maltose & glucose & enzymes, that's all, it's derived from Organic Brown Rice. and is delicious, I love it on my porridge......also great in David's Anzac biscuits.......Buy it in Coles, Health Food aisle.
