Hi everyone, loved David's book and I always knew sugar was the "work of the devil"  I don't have much at all, but know staying off it completey.  The full fat thing is so good too and a new revelation that many people talk about these days as opposed to our "low fat" brain washing from previous years.

Can I please ask what does everyone do in regards to alcohol - correct me if I am wrong, David said wine and vodka/scotch are OK, even though they have sugar in them but are converted to something safe?

    Would love clarification.  Thanks Jo.

    Hi Jo and welcome

What David says about alchohol is that in dry drinks, the sugar is converted into alchohol which is fine. But any drink which tastes sweet has had more sugar added and is not fine.

    So.........Port....no, Masala............no, Liquers............no, sweet wines.............no, fortified sweet wines.............no

Dry wines, dry sherries, vodka, scotch, brandy are fine, in moderation of course.

    cheers Freda

Alcohol (as Freda said) in moderation is fine.  David posted this on the free forum website

The fermentation process turns the sugars (including fructose) into alcohol (thereby eliminating the danger from the fructose).  The alcohol is perfectly well detected by our appetite control system.

Rum and most other spirits are also safe, it's usually the mixers that contain the sugar.  Steer clear of pre mixed drinks and bottles and choose soda, mineral water or diet soft drinks for mixers.

    Hello Joe
you asked: "Are there any other tricky foods/drinks - I know all the obvious ones. Stevia for instance I believe is OK and rice syrup?"

All the information we need is in David's books and on these forums, this one and the Free Sweet Poison forum:http://sweetpoison.myfreeforum.org/login.php
Go and browse through the threads on both forums and you will find lots of help.

    cheers
    Freda

Hi, Nikki here.  Do you like Beer?  I have found a beer that is No Carbs, No Sugar and 4.2% Alcohol.  Its called BigHead.  You can buy it at any Dan Murphy's and it won't interfer with your sugar levels at all.

    Cheers

Yes red wine is perfectly fine.  I actually used to prefer pre sugar all the desert wines and reislings... now I can't stand them and actually prefer a good red any day! Merlot is now my favourite.  In regards to champagne, yes it's should fine too as long as it doesn't taste sweet.
