Hi Gina, you'll be safe to know that Pasta does not contain any sugar, it's actually the sauce that you put on it that will contain sugar. I like cooking with cheese sauce or if you have an Aldi near you they have a great passata sauce which is just all tomatoes, you can simply fry an onion with garlic add your herbs and you have tomato pasta sauce. If you are avoiding carbs then pasta is probably not the best meal to have. But in saying that I read this:
Whole grain pastas are also more slowly digested. Pasta should be cooked "al dente" (slightly firm), as the more you cook it, the faster it is broken down into sugar.
I got this from here http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/whattoeat/ig/Low-Carb-Food-Pyramid/Whole-Grains-in-Low-Carb-Diets.htm.
I love pasta myself and so do my kids (good old macaroni cheese is our fav, my mum's recipe actually). I'm currently trying out low carb for a week or two to see how I go, although I'm eating a normal dinner.
