    Hi,
Does anyone have a good hot chocolate recipe?  My young son loves hot chocolate (me too) and I need to find a dextrose recipe.
    thanks in advance?

    Hi Pauline,

Any of the no-name brand cocoa powders (they have no added sugar), dextrose (or glucose or rice malt syrup) and hot milk.  Just add the dextrose or one of the syrups to taste.

Hi Pauline, I buy Bourneville cocoa powder and mix it in a plastic container with dextrose in a ratio of 2 parts dextrose to one part cocoa. Premixing avoids the need to mix a paste as it will dissolve readily in both cold and hot milk, and having it ready mixed makes it as easy to use as Milo or Quik.

Initially, you may find that you need to use more dextrose than I suggest above. My sweet tooth has diminished to the point that the 2:1 ratio is sufficient for me. Generally you will find the cocoa powder in the baking ingredients area of the big supermarkets.

    Dexy’s Midnight Choc-oh!-lite Fix

Rich Drinking Chocolate that’s just sweet enough

This chocolate drink contains NO fructose!

                                                                                         Contains only cocoa and dextrose.

Do you like the label I came up with for my choc drink mix?

I took a jar to work, and my spanish co-worker said it tasted like the less sweet spanish drinking chocolate... I also use 1 part cocoa to 2 parts dextrose. I make a jar or two of powder at a time, sieving it thru a fine strainer to mix it well. My husband is loving it with whole organic milk. I rarely drink it as I'm enjoying the organic milk on its own.

I was reading about homogenised milk and why it could be bad, worth a google, if you can get a nice alternative.

    I love the label.

I am still using the original tin I bought of Jarrah chocolate light and toffee with the artifical sweetners in them.  I am starting to find them a bit sweet so will have to make my own.  Thanks for the recipe.  I have a milkshake maker and it makes a refeshing summer drink and so frothy.  Isn't it interesting how our tastes are changing that I am now finding things too sweet.

I've got a milkshake maker too and it makes great iced coffees, I ust add a dash of cream to it and it thickens it up really well!  They are great for summer!
