    Hello everyone,

Had the grandchildren for a few days and made some popcorn for them and on reading the NIP found that it is very low in sugar ie -1g per 100g.  In David's book corn is off limits so was wondering why popping corn is so low.  I find it quite delicious and a wonderful filling snack, you can have heaps and not have any sugar even a Pepsi Max and pop corn at the movies.

    Cheers

    Margaret

    Thanks David,

I agree wholeheartedly about popcorn and rain, think I might go and make some now, thanks for that.

I live in the Brisbane Valley Area and our district is isolated, my husband couldn't get to work as the bridge between us and Fernvale is under water as is the one betwen us and Lowood same thing.

    Keep dry

    Margaret

I love air popped popcorn, it's got next to no calories and it goes really well when it's raining and a nice movie... except when the kids eat most of it!

You can buy air pop corn popping machines with other appliances in places like kmart and big w etc.  They aren't really too expensive these days and are quick and simple.

Popcorn is high in fibre, so quite healthy.  Here's a failsafe method to make it on the stove without any un-popped or burnt kernals left behind: http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/perfect_popcorn-print/  Also, butter doesn't melt on the popcorn itself, so chuck it in the pan once you've finished cooking.

    Hi Catherine,
In the free forums there is a recipe for anzac biscuits, I use rice malt syrup instead of the barley malt syrup (simply because I didn't have any) and everyone loves them, even people that eat sugar.  http://sweetpoison.myfreeforum.org/about1119.html&highlight=anzac  The rice malt syrup can be purchased at Coles in the health foods section. I have never seen it at Woolworths. It is also good on toast and crumpets. I usually substitute the rice malt syrup when the recipe calls for brown sugar or syrup, and haven't had any failures, yet. The glucose powder is dextrose which can be purchased in the beer brewing section of Woolworths/Big W

Hope you enjoy being fructose free.
