    Hello all,

Could one of you wise people out there help me out with figuring from the NIP how much trans fat there is in a product ie I have a tub of Devondale Dairy Soft premium quality MADE WITH BUTTER dairy blend and the panel tells me FAT - Total per 100g......81.0g - saturated per 100g ......40.9g so that gives me 121.9g total fat, how much of this would be trans fat???? as that's all it says.

    Thanks for any input.

    Margaret

    Hi Margaret,

I don't know a great deal about fats, but if Total Fat is 81g/100g and Saturated Fat is 40.9/100g then the balance of fats would be 40.1g (I presume that would be mostly unsaturated fat, but may also include some Trans Fats)

    Hope this helps a bit.

Try this link to a Choice Magazine look at fat composition of butters and spreads.
