I've become very fond of Liptons Spiced Morrocan Mint tea. I was really surprised when I first drank it to find that it was sweet! No sugar mentioned on the label, and it's tea bags! Never had sweetened herb tea in a teabag before! So I called Liptons to check there was no artificial sweetener hiding, and they said the sweet is from rosehip. I've had a scout around and the only thing I can find on rosehip is that it contains "sugars". Is there anywhere else I can look this up?

Sadly, on day 6 of being sugar free, this tasted *so* sweet that I don't think I'll be drinking it anymore.

Sandra ... your fructose detector is working well ...

Rose Hips (the fruit of the rose plant) are quite high in fructose ... The excellent fineli database says they are 6% fructose by weight (fresh) which is about the same as a banana. http://www.fineli.fi/food.php?foodid=11007&lang=en

I suspect the dried version (used in tea) concentrates the sugar to a similar extent to any other dried fruit ... so good call dropping from your list of consumables! :-)

    Cheers

    David.

Thanks David - sorry for not replying earlier, I've not been back to the forum. Is there a way to have the forum software send an email when there's a reply on a thread? I've looked around but maybe missed it?
