Confused about Dextrose

I've been sugar free for about 8 weeks and would like to make some of the recipes containing dextrose. In the book David says not to eat foods sweetened with dextrose while still consuming sugar. I'm wondering whether I can give the foods containing dextrose to my children who are not quite sugar free- at home they are but not at childcare & after school care.

The warning about dextrose in that context is really just to make the point that you will not lose weight consuming dextrose if you are still eating sugar ... it is not harmful to feed dextrose to sugar eaters (unless they are type II diabetic and then they will need to be careful - but they would have to be with sugar too) - so by all means make some treats for the kids - at least they won't be eating sugar when they take them to school (or daycare).

    Cheers

    David.
