How Much Sugar?

Does anyone else have smelly breath?

I know having very little sugar puts you into ( or nearly into) Ketosis and Ketosis gives you fruity, stinky breath. After dropping the sugar ( and thankfully a few kilos in the last few weeks) I have constant rotten arse breath, no matter how much I brush, gargle or scrape.
Does anyone else suffer from this and what can you do, if anything?

    Cheers

    Hi Justyn,

I'm amazed at how many different symptoms I have had from going off sugar-not just headaches- but my partner and I have had slightly smelly breath, but put it down to other things.  Now, you're making me wonder.

Double check other things though, especially if it lasts much longer: see your dentist or doctor for a second opinion. Consider the following: Have you had any gum or tooth pain/discomfort/bleeding? Dying nerves in teeth can smell. Are you eating more cheese? (always makes my breath smell) How about more protein? Maybe you should increase your carbs, if the ketosis is correct? (I hadn't heard of sugar doing it). Maybe it's a fibre problem- in your gut. You may have to eat two fruits a day to give yourself some balanced fructose. If you're not eating enough fruit, you can have a range of problems. Remember that the fibre in fruit deals with the fructose. Lastly, increase your water intake to eight cups per day- build slowly over a few weeks if you're unused to it. You may just be producing toxins as the excess sugar is pushed out of your body. Water cleanses these toxins out.

    Hope this helps.
