David, have read your children's birthday party menu which was excellent - it really is "do-able" if you are prepared to put the time into it.  Congratulations to you & Lizzie for your efforts.  I have one question - where do you buy the Wonka Gobstoppers?  Not being a lolly eater, I have never even looked but my partner has a sweet tooth & since he is sugar free with me, he would like to try the gobstoppers for a treat.  Thanks

Glad you like it Anne ... you should be able to get the gobstoppers just about anywhere that sells lollies - my kids seem to be able to get them at the 7-11 across from the school ...

    Cheers

    David.

Thanks also for the party guide, I am very excited the sherbet lollipops are dextrose as they are a favourite with 12, I have looked up the ingredients on the Gobstoppers and it lists Corn Syrup so I am a bit confused as to how these are acceptable (?).  I made dextrose lollipops on the weekend for halloween, some kids liked them, others not so.  I used a sugar toffee recipe, 1.5 cups dextrose, half cup of water, 1.5 tablespoons of white vinegar.  Like toffees, I heated until these were combined, and then brought to a boil and left it without stirring until reached hard crack stage on candy thermometer.  I checked the mix in iced water and it needed more boiling.  It tended to  keep going without burning like sugar. I flavoured with a passionfruit flavour (for icing at shops like spotlight) and poured into silicon ice cube shaped moulds.  After 5 mins you can stand half a paddlepop stick in them.  When set, they just pull out and become shaped lollipops!
David, let me know about the corn syrup in the gobstoppers.

    Thanks

Hang on, I just bought a packet and it says Glucose Syrup (from Corn) in the Australian packaging, so it all makes sense now as this corn/glucose syrup question has been done to death!

Thanks David, I live in Townsville & unfortunately, it isn't easy to get these types of things here.  I still haven't found goaties anywhere here yet either.  I may have to source these online.
