Donna ... Hi-Maize is a resistant starch. It won't affect your sugar addiction (in that you want get readdicted by taking it) and it doesn't have the Uric Acid (hypertension and kidney disease) or cortisol (Immune system and addiction) consequences of eating fructose, but it may result in many of the other effects (notably weight gain, heart disease and Type II diabetes) because of the way it is digested ... I've written a little more about this kind of 'food' here: http://www.raisin-hell.com/2008/11/fructans-inulin.html
Would I eat it? Nup - there's plenty of fibre in plain old vegetables. And I'm not at all convinced by the research they point to on their site about the beneficial effects of the product (most of it is very very old) ... but its spurred me on to take a detailed look at the question of dietary fibre ... so stay tuned :-)
Cheers
David.
