Hello David,
I have a couple of questions in relation to reading labels. I have read the 3g/100g. which I follow very carefully. Today I was shopping and found Coles Diced Tomatoes: Ingredients tomatoes 60%, tomatoe juice.
Sugars 5.8 grams per serving or 2.9 grams per 100g
my question is do you go by the per serving sugar grams of 5.8 or the 2.9 grams per 100g I am a little bit confused here. I also found a lasagne type sauce by BARILLA - Napolentana which has 3 grams per serving and also 3 grams per 100g so I would presume that this is okay it's ingrediants are tomatoes 68.6% tomatoe concentrate, onions 7.2%, carrots 3.6% sun flower seed, oil, SUGAR, garlic, thyme 0.4%, parsley 0.2%, chives 0.2%, natural flavours and pepper.
My second question is if the sugar grams are 3 or below but still list sugar as an ingredient is it safe to buy, because I have also found a Butter Chicken sauce with 1.5 grams per serving and 1.4 grams per 100 grams so would that be okay to use.
Hoping you can help to clarify this for me,
Regards,
Lauren HAMILTON.
