I have been sugar free for one month and have so far gained over 2 kgs. I am so concerned that today I have gone back to low fat foods and trying to restrict my food intake to 1200 cals per day. My question is how long does it take until my body tells me when I have eaten enough??  I noticed this happening within the first week and I actually lost some weight but now I am just constantly looking for something to eat and gaining weight rapidly.  Does this really work???  I have no intention in going back to sugar again but it doesn't seem to be helping me as yet.

Jan ... please take a look at what I posted over in the weightloss thread in the Introduce yourself forum.  If you are still craving food then you are not out of withdrawal and that likely explains the weight gain.  If I were you, I'd have something on hand that satisfied the hand to mouth habit when the cravings hit, but which contained neither calories nor sugar.  I used pepsi max for this when I was doing it, but if you prefer something more solid then maybe celery sticks or so on.  The sugar cravings are driving you to eat and since you cant have sugar, they will be pretty constant.  Everyone experiences this to a degree, but it sounds like you have it pretty bad ...

    Cheers

    David.

Thanks for your advice David.  I will try to exercise a little more patience and find other calorie free foods to satisfy my cravings.  I will also keep you posted re my progress..
