    Hi Everyone,

I am new to the no sugar movement.

    I have a few questions.

    1. Is bread ok or not ok? If it is on the list that David has compliled then is it ok?

    2. If we do make a delicious dessert is it ok to have 1 serving a day or is it a more of a sometimes treat?

    3. Are we not meant to eat any fruit at all?

    Hope someone can help.

    Thanks,

    Michelle

    Michelle,

Which of David's books have you read? The answers to your questions are all in Sweet Poison Quit Plan.

    • Bread is generally low in sugar, except of course, raisin bread and finger-buns etc, which have sugary stuff on top. Are you a member? Breads are listed in the members area of this site.
    • Since you make the dessert rather than buying it, just substitute 2 measures of glucose for each measure of cane-sugar.
    • You need about 10 grams of fructose a day. You an get that from two small pieces of fruit, about 100g each. Avoid fruit juice . .  it's concentrated fructose and is like drinking fat!
    • There are only two criteria that matter: (1) you feel full at the end of every meal, and just don't want to eat any more; (2) your weight is stable at an appropriate level [BMI below 25].
    • If this is not so, I  suggest you keep a log of every gram of fructose you ingest over a one or two week period. Then you can see what changes you need to make. The tables in David's books will help you.
    • It's also a good idea to avoid processed foods as far as possible. But at least read the labels carefully and avoid anything with more than 2% "sugars"  or 2% " polyunsaturated fat". The latter is often not mentioned. But subtracting saturated fat from total fat will give you a rough idea.  "%"  means "grams per 100 grams" . . .  just ignore "grams per serving"

    Good luck . . .  or should I  say, good management :-)
