Fibre + Fructose = Safe?

In all the literature I have browsed, the experts say that fruit is fine because the fibre contained in fruit "cancels out" the potentially harmful effects of fructose.
So if you eat a high fructose food such as chocolate followed by a very high fibre food (Bran?!) will this have the same 'cancelling' effect in the body?

I guess it all depends on whether you accept David's arguments rather than "all the literature" about this.

Fruit should be eaten sparingly - max of 2 fruits a day and watch which ones, as they vary in sugar content. I believe David eats no fruit at all.
This is one of the hardest parts of the programme to follow for me as I have always eaten a lot of fruit but I have managed. It is also the hardest one for friends to get ..."but fruit is good for you" is the usual response. But if you accept David's ( and now many scientists) premise that the body turns Fructose to fat it is easy to give it up.

I assume the question about chocolate is facetious. David gives  a recipe for chocolate sweetened with glucose(dextrose) in his new cookbook.

You're making it all too complicated . . . just decide to give up on things that are bad for you.

That said, the fibre in the fruit does ameliorate the effect of the fructose to an extent. But it's safest to stick to two pieces (of 100 grams) per day. And avoid fruit juice (it's just like drinking fat).

I have had a long-term habit of Friday night "choccy night" which my children still do with their kids. So I buy ALDI 70% cocoa chocolate which contains 28% sugar or 14% fructose. 25g of that gives me 3.5g of fructose, which I fit into my daily allowance of 10g.

The main criteria are is you weight steady at the desired level, and you feel full at each meal?

All the reading I have done indicates that unless the fibre is part of the fruit then you are wasting your time adding fibre to reduce the effect of juice. As the others have said eat 2 pieces of fruit maximum per day and go hard out getting sugar free - follow the plan and you will remove the urge to eat lots of fruit.

    good luck
