Hi   I am 2 weeks in now.  The first week I lost 2 kilos and had no problem staying away from the sweet stuff, amazing for me as I have such a sweet tooth.  I do feel better for cutting the sugar out of my diet, but I went on this program to lose weight.  At the end of week 2 I am 500 grams up on the end of week 1, I have done nothing different, I am counting my sugar and not eating that many carbs.  Does this program work?  Are there any great success stories that will help me stay motivated, I am sorry yes I know it is important to be sugar free but I truly do need to lose weight.

Yes, absolutely!  Have lost the weight (19 kilos) fairly steadily over about a year and a half, and now keeping it off too.  It isn't a program, or a diet. It needs to become a way of life for good.  I did put a couple of kilos back on after a a death in the family and then Christmas, but I'm back on track now and have lost the weight again.  My personal tip - don't weigh yourself too often.  And keep going, you've started off really well!

Yes there heaps of success stories - just scroll around the various forums on this web site. Most of the people who respond to questions like yours are success-stories . . . they're telling you the good news, not bemoaning their failures. So hang in there and keep checking into the forums to ask for support and to see the successes of others.  And . . . be patient :-)

Thanks Sandra and John I needed a little encouragement.  I am feeling much better without the sugar I was just feeling a little down after such a great first week and then not such a good second week.

    Diane,

Are you related to the Griffiths Pastros? Steve died last year in Bellingen and was an ex of my daughter.

I was so glad to see these posts ... I am 5 weeks quit and doing really well, no cravings and feeling good but absolutely no weight loss! I was really wondering what more I can do, ive been trying to stay patient but starting to doubt the switch to full fat dairy etc.  I've read about people dropping kilos in the first month but it hasn't happened for me.

Don't expect miracles. I am coming up to the end of my first year on this diet and I have lost 15 kgs. It has been a slow and steady process with the odd weight gain, plateaus  and then losses of about 300gm a week.
When I have no loss for a couple of weeks I cut back on carbs and this seems to get things started again.

    Good luck

Hi Janie   Thanks for your response.  I guess we always want miracles.  I had such a great loss in the first week, I had not expected that to continue though.  I know at my age the weight loss is much slower than when I was younger.  I will continue to work at it.

Well that certainly contains some new and useful information, especially in relation to reduced calorie diets. But the poor fellow seems to be entirely ignorant of the role of sugar (fructose) in the whole process.  The "calories-in/calories-out" method of losing weight has been largely debunked as it requires a LOT of willpower which most overweight people don't have . . . that's what got them into  trouble in the first place! And exercising won't enable you to lose weight because it increases the appetite . . . more willpower required! Remember how people used to take a constitutional before dinner "to work up an appetite" ?

Couple all this with the billions of words and dollars which have been spent on ways and means of losing weight in the last 50 (?) years . . . and we still have the worst pandemic of obesity the world has ever seen.  I am totally convinced by David and all his sources that avoiding fructose is the answer for most "sugarholics". And if you can't manage the small amount of willpower needed to clean out the rubbish in your pantry and hold your resolution to avoid fructose, then go see a counsellor to sort out your emotional blockages. Or sign up for The Sedona Method course. www.sedona.com
