Hello, I am on a station in WA and have just arrived here. I drink only water and the odd coffee and have discovered the water here is so full of various minerals and such a huge amount of calcium I am wondering what effect this could have on my health. The kettle and anything that has water going through it is completely calcified. They attempt to put the water through a filter but even the filter is being covered in a white crusty coating. The water once it has been through the filter tastes weird too. Please help me, I have seven months to do here.

I pay extra for water like that - they call it mineral water in the stores :-)

Seriously, I would expect that if it's being given to you to drink, that it's safe to drink.  It sure won't have sugar in it.  But, you can get water purification tablets at a hiking store if you're really concerned.

Hi Christian, thanks for replying. Laughed my head off, you are right people do pay more for mineral water.
I forgot to say, I am 250kms from the nearest shop. It is ok now though, I made such a fuss my boss bought slabs of bottle water for me when he went to town. Problem solved.

Excellent - I would agree that's probably a nicer option, in general.
