this is an article about our obsession with drinking water, especially dieters, it was in yesterday's Sun Herald colour magazine

    http://newsstore.smh.com.au/apps/viewDocument.ac?page=1&sy=smh&kw=aquaholics&pb=shd&dt=selectRange&dr=day&so=relevance&sf=text&sf=headline&rc=10&rm=200&sp=nrm&clsPage=1&docID=SHD11081413532CVK7FB

I have always felt that drinking when one is not thirsty is a very strange activity and here is an article about it.

    cheers

For me, if I don't drink water during the day (even in winter when I feel less like drinking water), I get a headache and hot pink cheeks. This happens even if I don't feel thirsty. I don't believe you need the 6-8 glasses but I do think there are times (or people?) who do need to make themselves drink.

Maybe it's like it's always been on this forum, we are all so different that even in our responses to the FF, for instance, it's different for everyone. So, with water drinking.

I have always drunk when thirsty, just like I eat when hungry.

My acupuncturist said once that drinking when we are not thirsty reduces the kidney energy.
Makes life interesting, eh, the differences?

Hi I agree with not wanting to drink so much water during the winter months but having read Dr.Batmanjani`s book on water I know how vital it is for us on a cellular level.
He suggests drinking only a mouthful from time to time throughout the day is the way to get your quota.  Doing it this way takes any pressure off the kidneys.
Another way to get your water quota is to fill up a thermos with boiling water and drop in a piece of ginger about the size of your thumb nail and sip on that throughout the day.  This is highly recommended for cleaning out your system.

I like the idea of that, Jann, and ginger is good for the digestion. I'm another one who only drinks when thirsty. But I like the idea of frequent sips, makes sense to me. But I usually have around one to one & a half litres per day, but at the moment I'm drinking green tea (jasmine), and am sipping that cold as well, during the day.
    Great suggestions, Jann, thanks!!
