Thanks Kate. The chloasma I definitely had but this was something different. A quick Google tells me it might have been Acanthosis Nigricans, very rare to have it on the face but not impossible. I remember my endo telling me he could see by the browning that my insulin wasn't working properly. My shockingly high blood sugar levels agreed with him!

Wow thats really interesting! Im looking for a way to direct one of my assignments into the nutrition field as I find this more facinating (wish I studied nutrition instead but feel stuck with dermal now as a year into it).

Congratulations on kicking the habit! I relapsed in my last month of pregnancy and now have a 2month old and too much time at home (with the cupboards). I asked my husband to hide his chocolate but i found it. Now I need to start again - DAY 1 TODAY again -  thought I would jump back on the website to be inspired. Im 67.5kilos and want to get back to 62. Maybe each week Ill report my weight on this site just to feel like im reporting to someone.

I know there are numerous reasons to go fructose free but weight loss is definatley a driving force for me. Wish me luck!!!

    Thanks,

    Kate

    Hi Anna
Good Luck with your weight loss and you quest to quit sugar...
I have about 30kgs to lose... which I steadily put on from the age of 18 until now the age of 37...
and I have to say when I look at some of  my friends and the amounts of food and sugar they eat I wonder why I am the one with the big butt :) I started on my journey to remove sugar last week... so far i have had a consistent headache, well it feels more like pressure in my skull than anything and a few stomach pains...
not sure what you can do about the soy milk cause I am pretty sure any mention of it on here has been that it isn't that great when it comes to sugar content (I believe it can be quite a bit). I did once hear that for people that are lactose intolerant goats milk is an option. I am not sure how easy it is to get or if that will work for you but I guess it is worth a go?
    again good luck

    Hi Anna,

I was posting a reply when I remembered that I liked the Pureharvest soy milk range, and I didn't think their product has sugar. I checked their website http://www.pureharvest.com.au/ but then I rang them.

their "Nature's soy milk malt free" has soy, water, oil  and seasalt. Their "rice dream" rice milk has rice, water, oil and salt. no fructose there. I always had the "Nature's Soy" so I asked about that- it is flavoured with rice syrup. i'm absolutely certain David has said that it is malt which is converted to glucose, but I will research that again and let you know. In the meantime, try the first two. You could add glucose if they're not sweet enough to be pallatible.

    Best wishes

    Hi All,

I am on day four today and the intense headache has passed!  Got tempted and  ate crisps on day 2! For the first time ever I had a real craving for an apple at someone else's house and I had to ask if I could have it!  It was the most beautiful sweet apple I've ever had!  Its so good to really taste things!

    Hi Sugar Free

This post is fascinating. Your detailed account of the symptoms is SO helpful.

Anybody else out there noticed the similarity between this list of symptoms and the symptoms of mental illness? I've had Bipolar Disorder Type II all my life and your description fits the depressive phase perfectly (perhaps with the exception of intensity - you haven't tried to do away with yourself have you? ha ha. I know - bad joke.)

David - I think that with the similarity noted here and the fact that women are finding the sugar addiction so much harder to ditch you might have enough research ahead of you to warrant another book!?!

Pretty please.. (with sugar on top, lol!)

    Oops - forgot to mention:

Someone back there suggested goats milk for lactose intolerance. Lots of people think that but its not right. Goats milk has about 13% MORE lactose than cows milk.

If goats milk helps your problem then its usually one of the beef proteins in the milk thats your problem - not the lactose.

    Cheers

    Donna
