So I've have been going great guns all day, I have had tea now and this must be when I indulge in sweets the most because I feel like i've lost my best friend lol.  I keep feeling like I have forgotten to do something, hopefully this will pass but fingers crossed it goes this smoothly all week

I know what you mean.  If you find it tough going, get some stevia from the supermarket ( low calorie sweetener, more natural than, say, Equal ), and put it in your coffee.  David says in the book he could not have got through withdrawal without diet soft drinks.  If you allow yourself something sweet that does not have sugar, it makes you feel you had sweets, but you'll still be sugar free ( and thus breaking the addiction ).

Thanks Christian, you have answers all my questions on all these posts and I wouldn't know the answers if you didn't.

Im expecting the withdrawl will be like when I quit diet coke about 6 months ago.  I had shocking headaches and constantly craved sweet stuff, no matter what I drank I couldn't replace that same feeling I was looking for when I had a diet coke, I tried so many different drinks and realised it was the caffeine and aspartamine sweetner that I was most likely looking for, but I did it so I will do this :)

P.S. Its day two and im still fine and wondering if Im doing something wrong like having it without realising?

When I was in my early 20s ( back in the stone age, I'm 43 now ), I realised I was waking up in the night, craving Coke, so I stopped drinking it.  So, I know just what you mean.  I had those withdrawals, and I didn't have the stuff the book talks about with sugar, at all.  Honestly, you could double check what you're eating, or post a typical menu here if you're still not sure and want advice ), but it's possible you won't have any withdrawal at all.  I was the biggest dessert and sweet eater, and yet I was fine.  The most I have is, if I've had something with sugar, I feel more inclined to snack and need to use my will power instead of my body telling me I am full.  I've never had a headache or anything else ( my wife says I was grumpy during withdrawal, but I didn't notice being more grumpy than usual :P  )

Well, I always say, no-one wants to get old, but it beats the alternative ( which is, of course, dying ).

You're eating a lot more than I am, you'll find down the track that your portions will drop, as your appetite control starts to kick in ( unless you do a lot of exercise, I sit at a desk all day ).  But, the soy is the only place I'd look for sugar, and given that it's the only sugar in your day, and given that I doubt you are drinking it by the cupful, I doubt it's an issue.  Portion size is a factor, for example I don't eat jam any more, but I make a chilli jam with chillis I grow and I still have that from time to time.  It's probably 1/4 sugar, but I have such a tiny amount ( it's very hot ), that it isn't a big deal.

I have a cooked breakfast every day but our chooks are off the lay, so I am conserving eggs, I usually have mushrooms and proscuitto.  The general layout of your meals is about the same as mine, with the exception of the size ( I'd never have two eggs or 2 bits of bread in one meal now ), and that I don't snack very often, and if I did, it would only be nuts or cheese.  I also drink only water nowadays, I find I prefer it ( often with a squeeze of lemon or lime )  I think you're on the right track, just earlier on than me, plus everyone is different, your portions may end up being bigger than mine, and you may well continue to prefer diet drinks.

Well its Day 3 and im pretty hungry so hopefully the portion sizes decrease :) lol

On closer inspection last night we realised the mini bag of pretzels in fact have inulin and glucose so because of the inulin they are out :( Damn I really liked those :O  Its incredibly frustrating with all the other names for sugar, because when I looked I really only looked for the word sugar!!!!

Yeah, I wondered about the pretzels.  I found it's easier to eat less processed foods and be done with it.  I love cheese, so early on that was my main snack, just a bit of cheese, which unless it's full of dried fruit, is pretty much always OK.

    Hi Rebecca

I found some greek yoghurt with a few blueberries at night after dinner(or as an any time snack) worked for me in the first few weeks, it was more for the habit of eating a sweet then really needing it, and I lived on nuts for snacks for sometime, but don't need to eat them as much now either, I got caught out with the inulin in mountain bread thought I'd have a change got the wholemeal one wasn't till I got home that I found it on the packet.

ahhh the after dinner sweet, that was really my only one downfall for quite sometime! I was fine for morning and afternoon tea (which I'd have cheese, crackers, kabana and cashew nuts or berries). whipped cream and berries is good however I did consume dextrose treats to help (I'd have patty cakes or mini muffins or 85% chocolate).
