My mother in law had Sweet Poison on her iPad at Easter so I started having a browse, it got me straight away and I pretty much read the whole book in two days. I have since bought my own copy of the Quit Plan and am on day two of cold turkey.  I am finding that I seem to have an insatiable appetite!!!! Is this normal and what should I do? I have been snacking on nuts etc and trying to let go of any previous diet misconceptions I have (ie that you should always limit food intake so that you feel hungry).  I have about 10kgs to lose but I am looking at my healthy sugar free lifestyle as the main outcome rather than focussing on weight loss primarily (which is what I have done in the past). Having said that, I do want to lose weight and my humongous appetite at the moment makes me worry. Any advice?

It's a symptom of withdrawal - see page 82-83 of SPQP. When your appetite-control system is functioning properly it will go away. Meantime go for it! As long as doesn't contain fructose.

It might pay you to check that you are not ingesting a lot of "hidden" sugar, usually in processed foods. Reject anything over 2% "sugars" except yoghurts - OK to 5% which is lactose and is metabolised to glucose.

Also, David recommends NOT substituting glucose for sucrose during the withdrawal period.

Hang in there! It won't last for long :-)

Thanks John, makes me feel better that it is normal. Today was a lot better, not as hungry and not so many cravings.
