Hi my name is Lauren and I started on Sweet Poison - Quit Plan ten days ago and my hunger and cravings have decreased considerably.  I have already lost half a kilo which I wasn't expecting. I thought I was going pretty good with the withdrawals until Sunday when I experience a severe headache which lasted for two days.  I have not really craved my usual cravings for slices, chocolates and cakes which is very unusual for me.  I did overeat these foods on a regular basis.  I have had no problem at all adapting to this way of eating, in fact I'm quite surprised and the amount of foods you can have like bread, pasta and rice.  I have done low carb before and have been successful but the restrictions were too much in the end.   I believe I can follow and stick to this eating plan as I feel I'm not missing out on anything really.  I can't wait to try the recipes in the "Sweet" section but will not until I am completely off sugar.  David I have bought both of your books and have read them both I so hope this will be my last attempt to rid myself of my sugar addiction.  My mother has diabetes and I had gestational diabetes with my last son.  I am 50 years old and have ten kilos to lose. I have never joined any website before but I am enjoying everyone's comments and it's great to hear how they are going.  Will check back in for a progress update very soon.

Hi Lauren, I'm a new member as well, my partner bought the 2nd book and signed up for the website just this morning! I finished reading book 1 just after midnight and was blown away, all the evidence is there, it all connects it just took someone outside of the profession to find it. I had no problem with weight til puberty and since then I've been on a hellish ride of yo-you diets. You named it, I've tried it. I've also developed more and more food allergies and various complaints getting worse. I know for a fact this will work because I've done it before. I've given up all complex carbs and whatnot before and have seen some weight come off, but seen my joints ease and my brain become clear and able to think properly in just a few days. If only I'd known then it was just the sugar and not the rest, it would have been much easier to stick to. I'm starting to wonder if the rise in mental health issues isn't a result of sugar poisoning as well. Michelle

Hello to you back Michelle and thanks for saying hi.   I like you have tried many, many diets over the years but truly believe I am one of the ones addicted to sugar.  Even being ten days in I have noticed my desire to eat has lessened.  Feel a bit bloated today but that could be a variety of reasons.   Have followed Low Carb diet before and the restrictions were pretty much everything, the variety on this is hard to believe but I'm sticking to it to see how I go and feel.   Just not too sure if I am eating too much in the sugar free bread department, I have a muffin for breakfast and a sandwich or two for lunch, but I did read in Davids book that he had toast and two rounds of sandwiches for lunch so I guess I'm doing the right thing.  Keep in touch and let me know how you go.

    Hello everyone,

My name is Margaret and I recently bought Sweet Poison which I read twice as I thought it was too good to be true then bought the Sweet Poison Quit book which I am in the process of reading for a second time just to fix it in my head.  Have been on the programme (if you want to call it that) for a couple of weeks now and have lost about 2.5 kgs which I am thrilled about.

I think though that I am eating too many carbs as I don't know when I am full can you believe and think I just eat for eating sake so I will have to make the committment to eat less.  Years of habitually overeating are a bit hard to break but I will get there.

Joined recently and as I am "technically challenged" according to my daughter I am finding my way around the computer quite well, I am 67 years of age so it is never too late.  Good luck to everyone.

    Margaret

Hi Margaret, don't worry about the eating. How can you be eating too much if you are losing weight? As David said some people overeat to start with, but it calms down and the body comes back to balance so don't worry about it. I prefer to think of it as the body seeking out extra nutrients it hasn't been able to get because sugar kept getting in the way :) Good luck to you as well. Michelle

    Thanks Michelle,

It's great to hear from other people who are enlightened and get such terrific feedback.  I must say I am enjoying this and when the weather warms up a bit (I live in Queensland and yes it really does get cold) am going to start walking.

    Cheers Margaret

    Hello Margaret,

You are doing so well, keep it up, I too have been on the Quit plan for two weeks now have only lost half a kilo but I am definately not as hungry as I used to be but I to think that I may be consuming too much carbs as in bread and muffins, (not the sweet ones the breakfast ones) Today I have actually felt very sluggish and tired so I'm hoping that it is just a part of the withdrawal process.   I did read in one of the forums try not to have more than 10 grams of sugar.  Today I have been counting just to see how much is in the foods that I eat.  I regularly read the labels and always go for the lowest I can find.  I agree with you about the over eating it is something that I have done for a long time to so I guess we are in a re programming stage.  Great work on the computer to as you say it is never too late so keep on typing.   Good luck to you all.

    Hi Ladies,
Great to read about your journey, I read Davids books 2 weeks ago (I read it in 1 day as couldn't put it down! was so shocked!!)....

So I have been sugar-free for 14 days, and I have lost only 0.5kg. I have been on weight watchers since January this year and lost total 9kg to-date. I still have another 8 to go to my goal weight, this book really hit home that my whole way of thinking "low-fat" needs to be readjusted. Most of food I was eating was fat free and yes now I know - FULL of sugar! So although I have been losing weight on WW for 8 months, its been slow and I want to try this no-sugar not for weight loss but for the health benefits.

I am concerned i am overeating, are you able to detail what you ladies are eating in a day? I am having usually egg, bread, milk for breakfast. 10 rice crackers and handful of Nuts for morning tea. Ham and salad sandwich for lunch. yoghurt & berries for afternoon tea and then dinner (meat and veg/pasta).

Hope you are all going well, are you still experiencing withdrawal symptoms? I seem alot better the last couple of days... Did have headaches and tiredness earlier.

Thanks again for posting, its encouraging to hear others stories.

    CHeers,
    Jodie
