Hi, I have just started reading "The Plan" and I am having trouble finding mention of grains and stocks or stock cubes. I make a lovely Chicken and Barley soup so I would like to know how barley and chicken stock (Real Stock brand or stock cubes) fit into the program. I haven't read the whole book yet so maybe I haven't got to them yet, but would appreciate any comments from you.

    Many thanks

    Anne

To avoid sugar in stock, I have been making my own by boiling up a chicken carcass with vegetables, salt and pepper.

    Hi Ladies,

I use Massel liquid stock, not sure on the powder, have to check this when I go shopping next as I empty the stock into Tupperware spice containers so I no longer have the ingredients list but I do have Massel Gourmet Plus Liquid Chicken Stock which I get from Coles and this has NO sugar.  I use it because it is gluten free as other brands of stock have wheat as a filler and I use this stock when I make chicken soup for the family.  There is also a salt reduced variety but this may have added sugar to compensate for the reduction in salt - just check as I am not sure because I only buy the normal one.

    Hope this is helpful.

Ditto here. whenever I roast a chicken I keep the carcass and boil it up and freeze for later use. lovely

Hi Nicole, yes I found the same thing yesterday and I used it last night. Sugar is negligable.
