I have been on and off diets all my life and becoming bigger and bigger with every year that passes. I have nearly finished reading Sweet poison but am still confused on where to start. I am hoping the sweet poison quit plan book will make things a little clearer, when I receive it.

Confused with the keeping below 10%g of sugar per 100 grams of food - at least I think that's what I am suppose to be aiming for!!??

Question: If I have lot of different varieties of food (for example 20) that is say each is 5% sugar per 100 grams, you have to multiply that 5% by 20 and you get 100%g

Is there a maximum amount of sugar per day?

Yes, it's all in there, Rosemary.  David recommends no more than 3% per 100g for each item.  But many items like bread, crackers, dairy, veg, meat are a lot lower than that in fructose, so it's really just the processed food and fruit you have to watch.  He doesn't give a maximum amount of sugar, but you'll find that when you eat everything below 3% that your body will naturally find its equilibrium in monitoring your satiety levels and you won't want to consume more than your body needs - it's quite amazing.
