I have reading these forums but no one is saying they are losing weight on this diet, could someone please let us all know by cutting out all sugar do you lose weight or do you just stop the cravings for sugar and feel fuller.
On this program, I would like to see weight lose too!

    Hi Kristie,
I have said I'm losing a couple of times on the forum.  I'm almost 4 weeks in and have lost a couple of kilos.  I know that you will definitely lose weight, and a lot, because I've been off sugar before for about 6 months and I lost a tremendous amount of weight and was eating like a horse.  Keep hanging in there...  Have faith.
A lot of people here are new and are only at the start of their journeys so that's why not many people are commenting on weight loss yet.

Thanks Anthea, It's good to talk to someone that has had success on this program. I look forward to seeing how everyone is going on this diet.

....I began this journey approximately 1 month ago and have lost 5.5kg.

I weighed within my healthy weight range for my height , ate healthy, and  went to gym about 5 days a week before I cut sugar out completely... by no means was I overweight... nonetheless

I found that if you also lower your carbohydrate intake, and increase protein... you will be laughing the whole way. You will not only lose weight, but you will also feel more satisfied after meals.

    Good luck :-)

5kg in 3 months (even with 2 parties thrown in - party food is for parties!).  Still 96kg, but I am 6 foot 2 inches...

I have also lost about 5.5 kg in the first 6 weeks - also doing lots of exercise with all the extra energy.

but for the last 3 weeks have hit a plateau - hope that ends soon

keep up the good work - feeling better with way more energy is a positive still even if weight loss hasn't moved for a few weeks

    cheers

I have been trying to be sugar free for about a year now & although I haven't lost much weight - around 2 kg but hoping for about another 5kg - I know that not having sugar is a far more healthier way of life.  It's not all about losing weight - it's also about having healthy insides.  If it means my arteries & heart are working at their best then I'm happy.  The weight will eventually follow.  My mistake was to introduce dextrose a little to early in my eating plan.  I wasn't fully over my sugar withdrawal.  I probably introduced a bit too much fat too early as well.  However, since reading the new book I have a better understanding as to where I went wrong & how to get on the right track.  This is not a diet but a new way of eating & living.

Day one for me. I'm trying to reduce my sugar intake. The only place I'm having it is in my morning coffee and my lunchtime tea. Normally I would have two heaped teaspoons. I have reduced that to 1 level teaspoon. I am stopping all other sugars. No sweet biscuits or desserts. No chips (most have sugar in them), no soft drinks just soda water. In the book you talk about reducing the extra sugar rather than that that is intrinsic in some food items. I am trying to do that too but occasionally I have a food that has some sugar added it seems almost impossible to find some foods whithout sugar.

I have a question for David. I don't quite understand the sugar alternatives yet. I like Eclipse mints but I notice they have sucralose and SORBITOL and  ACESULFAME K. Are these a problem in small quantities. I don't like Pepsi Max but one of these does for me what Pespi Max did for you.
    Thanks

    Hi Tony
Kettle plain crisps only have 0.6gm p/100 so they are fine to have.  also sorbitol is explained in the QuitPlan book - advice for sugarholics is to not have it.  Sorbitol and Malitol are alcohol sugars and our bodies apparently see Fructose see page 180 in the book for full explanation.  I hear you tho - I loved Eclipse mints and Licorettes - but no more.  Its nuts for me now.  good luck

    Hi,

Hubby and I have been sugar free for about 6 weeks, no weight loss so far for either of us. We have talked about it and don't really understand why, we are still quite committed though. We do feel like we are less hungry and don't find it a strain so will keep it up to see what happens. We have not done any exercise as I am struggling with pnuemonia at the moment. We are hoping when I am better to get out and do some walking. I have never lost any weight in my life without some exercise.

    Good luck, Angela
