As a woman in her 60's I've struggled with tummy fat for ages, no luck with exercise, diet or the like.
I've always said that there's too much sugar in our diet, everything you look at has sugar in it.
So now I'm in control and have cut sugar out of my diet. Not easy at first but I'm beginning to find if I have one (as a treat) tim-tam or the like I can't finish it because it's too sweet and sickly - so I must be doing something right at last.
Thanks David for bringing this information and study to light.

    Hey Rena,

Welcome to the forum. It is amazing how quickly you feel less of a need for sugar. This morning I had my weetbix without even a dash of dextrose. Tastes just great! Someone wrote about there grand dad eating oates with salt! Don't know that I will go that far ...but you never know!

    Good luck with quitting

    Cheers

What a memory.  I can also remember my granddad's oats.  If was different and I loved it.  My mother said he put salt in it.  I don't know how much.  He also boiled it on the stove and I think this makes it different.  He would have used plain cooking salt. (over 40 years ago). Must give it a try.  Hope it taste like the memories.

    Thanks for the happy memory.

Thanks for the comments girls. I remember having porridge with salt years ago when sugar was scarce, it may take you awhile to get used to it but give it a go.
I've given all cereals up for breakfast and enjoy either a poached egg or sliced tomato on toast, unfortunately I don't like vegemite (I'm a pom from way back) but prefer promite which I've found is quite high in sugar so I'll  try really hard to get used to the taste of vegemite, I stand challenged!
    Enjoy ............
