Hi,
Im currently on day 8 of being sugar free. Not feeling great or bad really. Im still wanting sugar but am managing to avoid it. The only sugary thing i am having is Pepsi Max. I did a grocery shop and there is so much to look at (especially with 3 kids tagging along)! I bought a curried sausage sachet and it has 3.1% sugar per 100g. Is this ok? Im struggling because im cooking for my husband and myself and our 3 small children so am time poor. Should I be aiming for 0.5% and under in all items?? Im a little confused.
Please help, Thanks.
Shelley,
If that curry sausage sachet is 100gms and feeds four than I suppose it is less than 1gm each. I read the book a couple of times to try to answer this same question and I think that as long as you keep your total sugar intake for the day well under 10gms that is acceptable considering the trace amounts that are in just about everything you eat. The question I still have in my mind is - if not all the 3.1gm is cane sugar (some of those sachet things have maltodextrin, malt, dextrose etc. which are ok) how can you tell how much is the "toxic sugar"? Maybe if it works out to be low anyway, it is not worth splitting hairs. Sarah
