    Hi,

Im into day 3 of my withdrawal and im really hungry.  I have read the book but am still a little confused about what i can eat.  I am currently eating weetbix/porridge for breakfast, pear and coffee for morning tea, lunch is a sandwich and afternoon tea is either another peice of fruit or nuts.  I have to say im really really hungry for different foods.  Is it a case of going around the supermarket and finding items that are low in sugar i.e under 0.5%?  I usually graze all day long but im struggling.

    Ideas anyone???

    Thanks.

Boost your protein and fibre.  I use almonds and yoghurt (that I make myself - EasiYo).
I also do have a piece of fruit with breakfast, usually a kiwi-fruit and eat it a half hour after I finish my main breakfast.  I also keep a 1L water bottle on my desk.  I drink it as required and top it up when it is empty.

My breakfast this morning consisted of 4 weetbix (I was hungry), tea, kiwi fruit and 2tsp glucose.  One on the cereal and one in my tea and 1 glass of water.  Lunch is a cooked potato with skin, mushrooms, ham and cheese, some yoghurt and some steamed veggies.

If you are really hungry, oats, milk, cooked apple and a light cinnamon sprinkle.  It is loads of fibre and sweet if you need the hit.

    I hope this helps.

I agree with Alonya.  You're on day 3 so you're in the thick of it.  It will get better.  I'm about 3 weeks free of sugar now and my appetite is really under control.  Day 3 it was hard to decipher between emotional eating and real hunger.
One thing I have found is that tea/coffee are also appetite stimulants and I've been so much better off without them.  I know it might seem like too much to let go of all at once but it is really worth considering...
Licorice tea is FANTASTIC if you're craving something sweet and it's really a great blood tonic apparently.
Keep going - in the next week you'll start to feel really good.

I guess im getting a little confused because in the book it says to not have any dextrose or glucose syrup until after your have weaned off sugar (ie 3-4 weeks). are you having glucose because you have already withdrawn from sugar??? or can we have it???

    Thanks.

    Hi Shelley

Im on day 6 still awaiting my book, I am too really hungry, very similar diet to you. My worry is to try to stay off the bread.  I have found the hunger is the sugar fix so try a Pepsi Max.  A tip from my Sister when she was on a special diet. But be careful you only buy the cans, but you will get to a point where a medium sized glass will help get you over the hump. Also lots of water if you can stand water it helps flush the toxins, I was drinking 2 litres a day, skin was fantastic! Weight loss was kicking in But slipped back so aiming for it again. I carry around one of those medium sized pump bottles (try and drink 4 a day and have hot water or green tea (not too strong) with a squeeze of fresh lemon, cleans the liver, the palate and you actually begin to love it!  Good Luck..... fingers crossed for both of us.......As a wonderful friend used to say to me "Always Look Up"
