I'm looking forward to receiving David's book which I ordered after reading about it in the Sydney Morning Herald!   I have a sweet tooth, but with some help have managed to wean myself off chocolate and lollies.  I have IBS and find that sugar does not help my guts at all.   I'm a fan of Sara Lee though.   I want to try some of the recipes on the site but wonder where I can get dextrose or glucose - the health shop? I'd appreciate someone letting me know.

    Thanks!

    Hi Isobel

I have not checked myself but i think i read on one of the old posts that Dextrose is found in the supermarket in the home brewer section and that glucose (Glucodine) is found in where the sports drinks are sold in the supermarket.

    good luck

    Hi Isobel,

I bought some glucose powder in the health food shop today. $6.10 for 1kg. The lady in the shop said glucose and dextrose are the same thing and the glucose ingredient list says it contains dextrose. I'm not sure what's going on there but I hope this helps.

I used it to make an orange and almond cake and it worked very well,

Hi Isabel,  Dextrose powder is bought in the Home Brewing section of the supermarket.  It costs about $3.50 for a 1kg box.  I've used it to make the Brownies in the Quit Plan book David wrote and it's amazing stuff.  You should be able to find it very easily.  Don't buy it at the Health Food shop as they will charge you like a wounded bull.

Thank you!   I also bought some in a health food shop but paid just $4.40 for 1kg.  I used it to make Beth's chocolate slice yesterday, but I thought they were a bit dry, but still got my sweet/chocolate hit!  Can't believe I'm reading labels for sugar and not fat!
