Just a quick note to say "Hi". I purchased the Sweet Poison and Quit Plan books today and will no doubt be reading cover to cover tonight.  I am a 50 year old, menopausal woman with a lot of tummy fat (apparently typical at this age), but really stubborn to shift.  I really need to lose about 30kg, and if cutting out sugar is the trick, then I'm all for it.  I don't have a sweet tooth generally, but just reading some of the stuff here has made me realise that sugar is in just about everything that we like to nibble on.  So maybe cutting out the nibbles is the answer...

I have tried every diet imaginable, Jenny Craig, Tony Ferguson, Weight Watchers, Lite N Easy, etc, etc etc....all I seem to lose is my bank balance...Needless to say, I have spent $60 today on books and $30 on a subscription, so who knows, maybe this will be the best $90 I ever spent.

    Stay tuned.....

Good Luck Lisa, Im right along side with you.  When i was on the Cohens diet i used to drink a lot of water as well, helps with the headaches and flushes the toxins out. Not sure if it works here but im using it........stay in touch........Susie

Hi, I am 48 and have struggled with my weight all my life, and like many others have tried all the plans out there.

Recently I have noticed I have gained more fat around my middle section, and have not been feeling 100%.

I have always had a sweet tooth, but recently not so much, but I have still been eating the same way, out of habit, I believe.

I saw a story on the TV recently about "The Sweet Poison Quit Plan" and went right out and bought it.

After reading it, I immediately stopped eating sugar, as I realised my body has been trying to tell me to stop, I actually felt over sugared, if that makes sense !

Its only been 2 days, but I feel fine and it hasn't been hard at all.

    Early Days

I will keep posting, wish me luck !

Hi, I am one of the unfortunate PRE-menopausal women to carry weight around the middle. I need to lose about 30kg. I first became aware of my 'sugar' problem 14 years ago when I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Although I am not a diabetic I am borderline and well on my way to becoming one if I don't change my ways. I did manage to lose my excess weight by following a low GI diet (with no alternative sweet recipes included). I didn't understand the powerful addiction side of things though and when I eventually lapsed found myself putting all the weight back on and no will power to go through it all over again. I heard David on ABC radio and bought his Sweet Poison Quit Plan book and I have a much better understanding of my addiction now. I decided to go cold turkey and am now at Day 3. The first 2 days were plain sailing, but I did have a slight headache today and cravings for sweet food. I am really looking forward to finishing my withdrawal so I can try some of the sweet treat options. I will have to convince hubby to make 'fructose-free' desserts instead of following the 'Masterchef' recipes.

I thought it was just me and my lack of willpower.  This forum is showing me it is semi-typical and that alone gives me more hope.  Being an addiction, you can fight it.  I love this forum and the support.  Hope to get my book this week so can start for real.  So far I have been just trying to cut back where I can so hopefully the withdrawals will be less.  After all those low carb diets that do work but too hard to live with, I look forward to rice and porridge.

    Good luck everyone.
