Hi everybody,
I am on day 9 of my withdrawal, and, oh boy, it's gotta get better soon! I've had the headaches and upset stomach that I'd read about, and the sugar cravings and constant hunger, although I think I read that the hunger is probably just because I'm craving sugar. I've been reading this forum and have gotten some great tips. Went out and bought some Rice Malt syrup and crumpets today, this got me over a hump. I have lost a kilo, but I think this is because I've been visiting "the smallest room in the house" (as David puts it), quite a lot this week. I do believe it gets better, God I hope so! I'm a huge sugaraholic and I need to lose about 20 kilos, I am inspired by many stories I've read on this site and hope I'm lucky enough to lose some weight but mostly just want to be healthier.

"Getting lucky" is like "finding time" . . . you make them, not find them.
I am involved in a personal growth program called The Sedona Method [ www.sedona.com] . One of their "releases" relates to addictions. They suggest that when you feel a craving, bring the good feeling that indulging will give you into your awareness. Welcome too, all the pictures, thoughts, sounds etc that come with it. Give yourself some time to become aware of them all. Then just let them all go. Just drop them as best you can. Repeat the process several times and the craving will go away.
Another technique, used in smoking cessation programs, is to distract yourself - get up, go and DO something physical like wash your hands, have a drink of water , walk around the house. After 3 or 4 minutes of this the carving will probably have subsided.
