I am 46 years old and have had a life long battle with weight. I saw an article on Big Fat Lies last week and downloaded the kindle version yesterday. I have sort of been on the right track for the past few weeks by cutting out alcohol (mostly) and eating mostly whole foods etc but I have been using the wrong oils (rice bran). I also eat a lot of fruit and have been munching the organic dried fruit and seed bars. Just had a look at the sugar in one of them 46g!!

I start my sugar and bad oil free journey tomorrow.

I wouldn't be too worried about the "bad oil". maybe you should fight one battle at a time :-)

Alcohol is OK in moderation. You just need to avoid the very sweet wines, fortified wines (port, sherry etc) and liqueurs, which are loaded with the sugar. But  beer, spirits and 'normal' white & red wines are OK. Nearly all the sugar has been converted to alcohol.

Whole foods is a good idea even if you'e not avoiding sugar :-)  Especially unprocessed ones.

Dried fruit and fruit juices are concentrated fructose . .  like ingesting fat!

Visiting here for support is also a very good idea. Good luck on your journey.
