Hi all, am new to the site but have tried several times to quit sugar. I have read the books, know how bad it is for me and certainly do not want my kids growing up eating copious amounts of it. I have a 2 yr old & 6 week old and have to confess that I go really well (and feel fantastic after withdrawal) for a while and then if me and the kids are having a shocker of a day my thoughts automatically go to sugary foods and I crack and indulge, feel crap, then have to start all over again. The longest I have made it is 3 weeks and I am just so ashamed that I cannot seem to kick this in the butt. Has anyone else had several attempts or am I just a moron?! Also, has anyone experienced constipation with a fructose free diet? I have never been exactly regular but find I am especially backed up without fruit - suggestions?

Hi Bush mum, baking cakes (lots of recipes here) with dextrose or quick things like piklets would help when you have those kinda days I find macadamia nuts hit the spot as does greek yogurt with rice malt syrup, or even frozen berries an cream, hope this helps. Some people have 85% dark chocolate as well. As for the other nuts are a really good source of fibre an should help I was eating lots to start with an had no problems an still don't. last of all you aren't the only 1 to struggle, read some of the stories here, lots have taken many attempts to go sugar free.
    cheers Deb
