Hi team,  My name is John and for the past 50 odd years I have done the battle with weight.  I have been up and down more than ladies of the night, so after having read both boks I ma now on my second week of no sugar.

I am noticing that my body is beginning to tell me when to eat and when to stop.  Oh I also forgot to meantion that I am a type2 diabetic and have been for the past 10 years.  I had a A1C just before I decided to quite sugar so it will be interesting to see what my bloods are in Dec.

I have done the wesley weight management (paid a small fortune for a weight loss, then on it came back on), been to a number of diet things, so here's hoping

    Good Luck.

I have been sugar free for over 2 months now.

I haven't lost any weight yet but I am hanging in there.

I don't crave sugar any-more so that is a bonus for me.

    Hi John.
Welcome. I have been sugar free for about 4 weeks and have noticed my body changing. less fat around the middle. like you, I have been on many diets, anything and everything.
The weight is coming off, but very slowly which is fine with me, as long as it goes down and not up.
I have tried a couple of recipes but find I cannot each too much because they are still high calorie, so I freeze what is left.......must keep out of that freezer now....ha ha.
Anyway, it will be interesting to see what happens with your blood sugars...good luck.

David recommends NOT using the 2x dextrose substitute for sucrose during the withdrawal period. Just go cold turkey and avoid sugar as far as possible.

The support you obtain here will prove invaluable to you. So just hang in there John :-) Oh, it's a good idea not to get to obsessive about weigh-&-measure. once a week is enough.

When the appetite-control system really works, I find I just can't have another mouthful when it kicks in. Which is very satisfying :-)

I find this area a bit confusing actually. David says (in bold so it must be important...) "Do not eat foods sweetened with dextrose (glucose) until you have completed withdrawal from sugar". Note the word completed. Then he goes on to say in relation to the dextrose recipes, "So, if you are going cold turkey with sugar, you can begin using these recipes right away; if you've decided on a gradual withdrawal, you'll have to wait".

I personally went cold turkey so I started cooking these recipes straight away and found it invaluable in giving up the bad sugar. It felt like you weren't really giving up anything - with the added bonus of guilt free full cream milk, cheese etc.

The thing I find confusing is all the references to being "sugar free" and eating "sugar free" recipes when dextrose/glucose is still a sugar. I feel a bit of a fraud telling people I'm going sugar free then serving up things cooked with dextrose. I also hate having to explain the whole situation if I tell them I'm fructose free so I usually just go with sugar free anyway :)
