Hi Everyone...I am on day 5 of sugar free.  I am finding it great and only had really bad headaches the first 2 days.  I have the Quit book and am loving exploring everything on this website.  I would really love for some people to reply to let me know there weight losses as a result from converting their lifestyle to sugar free.  I know the other benefits will be great - I can feel it already!  Calmer, more clarity of mind, feeling fuller when I used to crave food all the time....but ultimately I need to lose around 30kg....and am hoping some of you have had good weight loss (over time - I don't care how long it takes).  Thanks!

I have been fructose free for 2 years now,it took me 5 months to lose 15 kilos and I have been the same weight ever since,if you realy want to loose weight and feel realy healthy beleive me get rid of the fructose from your diet.I have changed my eating habits big time, eating foods that in the past that I could not stand like avocados, plain yogurt which I have every day now with fruit. You can eat what you want as long as it does not have Fructose in it.You will start to eat less because you will feel full,I drink full cream milk eat real cheese use real butter and my weight has not changed.Friends and family think I look great but some of them still have stupid diet plans which they are still struggling with, who wants to drink shakes for the rest of there lives,so I just dont get it when myself and my wife have been so successful with this new way of eating which is a way of life for us now we dont have to watch what we eat because we know what is good and what is bad.We make our own icecream, cakes and slices for when we want a sweet fix which we make out of dextrose. So believe me this realy works just ask my doctor all my blood test come back in the black which suprised him as I was on the verge of type 2 diabities and high cholesterol which is now 4,and I still like my beer.Good luck and all the best YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT

I think the weight thing is different for everyone, I have been fructose free for six months now, and have lost seven kilos, I average about a 200 gram loss per week now. I have been overweight most of my adult life, Just like everyone else here I had tried it all, the only thing I had not done was hang crystals from my toes and stand on my head.
The seven kilos I have lost have come off the problem areas, so being a female its great to keep my curves and be losing little by little at a time. Did I mention I eat what I like when I like, dont think about Carbohydrates, and my guilty pleasure is I eat potato chips everyday.   Come to think of it chips are not a guilty pleasure dont feel guilty at all. Ha

My withdrawal took about four weeks of fuzzy headaches, and a want for something but not knowing what.  I have not tried any baking with dextrose yet, but here comes summer, and I am going to try the Ice cream Recipe and have some Macadamia nuts put through it ,.

Sweet Poison is the most appropriate name for Davids book, and my Mantra is now I dont shove poison down my throat, I truly believe fructose is just as bad as smoking, either poison is like playing Russian Roullete with your life.

    Kindest Regards Dee

I have been sugar free for a couple of months now and have lost about 3 kilos but I didn't have a lot to lose as was already 53kg when I started.  My weight has now stopped at 50kg and I eat anything I like so long as it is fructose free.  Another interesting point is that I am not as intolerant to dairy products now as I used to be.  I am now able to eat some yoghurt where as before I coulnd't tolerate even a small amount.

Thanks for your answers everyone - it is just good to hear others stories (they really motivate and inspire!).  I especially like the advice that while withdrawing from sugar - you were craving "something" but not really knowing what!  I think that is what I have been doing, standing in front of the fridge - not really hungry - but feeling like there is "nothing to eat".....(obviously because at this point - I would be reaching for biscuits or lollies)......I am sticking with it - its quite exciting - and to think after a lifetime of diets - to not have to focus so much about food every minute of the day.  Thanks again - and good luck with all your journeys!
