    Welcome Isabel and Hubby,

You've come to the right place . . . . .  for support :-) Not to mention the right decision. If you need to ask David a question you can do it from the web site http://sweetpoison.com.au/  And his blog is worth following:  http://www.raisin-hell.com/

I wouldn't worry too much about full-cream dairy products and saturated fat - it's not compulsory :-).
In his 3rd book Big Fat Lies, David raises concerns about polyunsaturated fats which is why butter is better for you than margarine.  But I'd worry about that when your weight is under control.

You just need to read the labels on low-fat products. When they remove the fat the flavour goes with it. They replace that with sugar and salt :-( Yoghurt is OK to 5% because that is all lactose (milk sugar) which metabolises as glucose.

Generally if you avoid foods with more than 2% "sugars" &/or 2% polyunsaturated fats on the Nutritional Information Label, you should be OK.

If you like cereals, Weetbix,  Vitabrits and rolled oats are OK. Coles also offer a muesli with very low sugar content. It's a bit bland but can be enlivened with some crushed nuts and yoghurt.

If you've only read Sweet Poison you will find Sweet Poison Quit Plan very helpful. And Big Fat Lies is also well worth reading.  If you want to know more about the metabolism of fructose, watch this hour-long video by Prof Robert Lustig: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBnniua6-oM

You'll find that it gets easier the longer you persevere . . . . . like most things in life :-)

It can be confusing. Just ignore the "per serve" figures . . . they're just there to fool you into thinking it's not so bad for you.

"Percent" means per 100g, so just check the "per 100g" column.  2% means 2g in every 100g etc. Although "sugars" can mean a lot of things, in general the fructose content is about half the "sugars" content.

You might find it desirable to check your fructose intake occasionally; e.g. if the whole thing doesn't seem to be working. If you need help with that just ask.

All those sweeteners are artificial sweeteners (most artifical sweeteners are no calorie which is why they put them on diet foods or other foods they want to sweeten but keep the calories low).  Fructose wise they are fine, they are on David's your call list.  This is because the other long term effects of using these sweeteners are not known, fructose wise they are fine.  Basically it's up to you if you want to eat it.  I have some of that jelly at home myself! Tastes great with whipped cream or custard.
