    HI All

took my first step yesterday and have begun my journey to eat less sugar, weight loss and feeling better.  I read with interest that some find this process simple but I must admit that I am finding this a little complicated and have lots of questions that I will ask over time.

I like the approach that this is not a diet but simply that I am eliminating sugar from my eating.  It sounds easier as a result.

I have a long term goal and will celebrate small milestones as well.  Each step, each small milestone acheived gets me closer to the goal.

I look forward to learning from you all over this time.

    thank you

    Hello Peter and welcome
And congratulations for taking your first step.

The wonderful thing about this no sugar way is that, unlike a diet, you will feel better and better. Once you have got over the initial withdrawal period, which varies from person to person, you will find that not eating sugar will become easier and easier.
You say you are eating "less sugar" I myself went completely off sugar, going cold turkey gets one over the withdrawal period more quickly, I think and the eating only what one needs kicks in quite quickly.

    Good luck in the future
    cheers
    Freda

    Hi Peter

I too did what Freda has said about sugar an went cold turkey, got headachy on the 3rd day in, which lasted for a few days an have been fine since, weight-loss took a good month before any movement, and hasn't been huge, but I am not putting any on either so that is great for me.
    Enjoy good health

Hi Peter and welcome.  It's really not hard, you just cut out sugar.  The hard part is working out everything that has sugar in it, at the start, then you just get used to eating differently, your appetite starts to work, you eat less, and feel better.  I lost 10 kg in the first month, 6 in the second and have been stable at that for two.  I don't recommend having a 'goal weight'.  Let your body tell you what you weigh.  If you care about weight loss, you may put more work in to trying to make sure you never over eat, but if you choose a number, who says that number is healthy or possible ? Starving yourself gives you more scope to do that, eating sensibly without ever going hungry, it will depend on how realistic your goal is.
